Voter Registration: A Public Appeal
Once again the election cycle is upon us. In 2019, South Africa will once more go to the polls to elect a leadership that will continue to steward the country towards the aspirations of the masses and the ideals of our freedom.
In order to participate in these forthcoming elections, it is important that we either register or verify our details on the voters’ roll.
The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa encourages all to be involved in this voter registration / verification exercise to allow us to participate in the elections in 2019.
The Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa will on Saturday the 10th and Sunday, the 11th March 2018 open centres across the country where eligible voters will be able to either register or verify their details.
The Almighty declares to Muslims in the Qur’an: “You are the best nation evolved for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allâh…” By actively participating in elections, we exercise our duty of enjoining in what is right and forbidding what is erroneous.
Voting is our contribution as citizens of South Africa towards preserving democracy. It is an investment in our own future and an exercise to preserve and promote the common good of our rainbow nation. It starts with registration and verification of our details on the voters’ roll.
Let’s all register or verify our voter details when centres open on:
Saturday 10 March 2018 & Sunday 11 March 2018
For more details, call, toll free, the IEC on 0800 11 8000, from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm with your questions.
